The SPE University of Nicosia Student Chapter had the privilege of hosting Lambros Kyrlitsias, Operations Manager at VTTI, for a technical session on pipeline pigging systems. The presentation introduced students to the fundamentals of pigging, its critical role in pipeline maintenance, inspection, and operational efficiency, and showcased real-world applications in the oil and gas industry.
Participants also had the unique opportunity to examine actual industry “pigs” donated by Mr. Kyrlitsias for educational purposes, providing a rare hands-on learning experience. His clear and engaging explanations of complex technical concepts encouraged active discussion and curiosity among attendees.
This event strengthened the connection between academic learning and industry practice, emphasizing the importance of pipeline management for safe, efficient, and reliable energy operations.
