International standards are crucial for safe and efficient oil and gas operations, enabling interoperability across global projects. ISO/TC 67 develops international standards for petroleum and natural gas activities, while CEN/TC 12 adopts these standards at the European level. To support national engagement, Cyprus has established the CYS/TC 22 Hydrocarbons Committee, providing a platform for local stakeholders to contribute to standardization and quality discussions at both European and international levels.

Bio / Abstract
The oil and gas industry operates globally, with multinationals and companies spanning multiple countries. International standards support this industry by establishing best practices, increasing interoperability, and removing barriers to efficient and safe operations.
ISO/TC 67 (Materials, Equipment, and Offshore Structures for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries) serves as the international platform for developing and publishing standards that guide petroleum industry operations. At the European level, CEN/TC 12 adopts these standards, ensuring alignment and consistency across Europe.
To strengthen quality development and stakeholder engagement within Cyprus, the CYS/TC 22 Hydrocarbons Committee was formed. This forum allows local stakeholders to discuss standardization and quality requirements, while providing input on the development of standards at the European and international levels.
