Bio / Abstract
The oil and gas industry is unique in its approach to working standards, particularly in health and safety. Large-scale projects involve extensive planning, risk assessments, and execution timeframes, with financial stakes reflecting the inherent risks. The industry allows no margin for error—lessons learned from disasters such as Piper Alpha and Deepwater Horizon have shown that shortcuts can cost lives and assets.
To mitigate these risks, the industry enforces universal procedures, designed to protect human life, safeguard assets, and preserve the environment. This presentation will provide insights into how these standards are implemented and maintained daily on offshore platforms, and how personnel adapt their work to comply with strict safety requirements.
