Last week, the SPE University of Nicosia Student Chapter had the privilege of welcoming Basil Allam, Country Manager – Cyprus at Chevron, for the flagship guest lecture:

Drawing on a career spanning multiple regions and leadership roles, Mr. Allam shared a candid account of his development from an early technical foundation to his current responsibilities overseeing Chevron’s activities in Cyprus. The session provided meaningful insight into the realities of long-term career progression, highlighting how key inflection points and international experience shape professional growth. He offered a practical perspective on the discipline and awareness required to navigate the weight of decision-making, increasing levels of accountability, and the uncertainty that often defines major transitions.
The session concluded with a token of appreciation presented by the Student Chapter in recognition of Mr. Allam’s contribution and continued support.
Following the presentation, attendees gathered for a happy hour alongside the Chevron team, students, and industry professionals. Guests also had the opportunity to experience a virtual reality tour of Chevron’s Wheatstone offshore platform, offering a unique and immersive experience to cap off the evening.
