Bio / Abstract

The first part of the presentation focuses on the technical characteristics of marine risers, emphasizing their functions and the challenges posed by increasing water depths. Topics include:

  • Connections and seals between risers
  • Buoyancy and mass considerations
  • Integrity and safety aspects
  • Choke, kill, and hydraulic lines

The second part explores the inspection and re-accreditation of marine risers in compliance with international standards and regulations. The discussion will highlight Cyprus-based oil and gas projects involving riser re-certification and will cover production risers as well as flexible riser servicing and monitoring. Finally, the mechanical aspects ensuring riser integrity and environmental protection during oil and gas production operations will be reviewed.

Biography

Mr. Andreas Assiotis has been a full-time Mechanical Engineer at Multimarine Services Ltd since 2015. As a project manager, he oversees engineering design, modeling, analysis, and serves as a quality controller. Andreas holds a Master’s (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) and is an Associate Member of IMechE.
